SEALCOATING BY THE GALLON, NOT THE GUESS
Coverage rates run the estimate
One gallon of sealer covers 80–100 square feet per coat, sliding with surface age and texture. Old, thirsty, oxidized pavement drinks toward 70–80; a smooth, tight mat stretches past 100. Measure the area honestly, pick the rate that matches the surface, multiply by coats.

Two thin coats beat one thick one
A single heavy coat skins over, tracks, and peels within a season. Two thin coats — the second applied perpendicular to the first after 4–6 hours — cure harder and last twice as long. The calculator defaults to two coats for a reason.

Prep decides the lifespan
Sealer sticks to clean, dry, crack-filled pavement — nothing else. Power-wash, degrease oil spots, fill cracks over a quarter inch, then seal above 50°F with no rain for 24 hours. Skipping prep turns three years of protection into one.
